Use some wire, a plastic ring or anything you can think of to hold open the top of the bag so that the hole is as big as possible. Sprinkle the top of the exposed soil with your favorite carrot seed.

Use your fingers or a small hand shovel to punch 4-6 holes along the sides of the bag and insert (cram) a strawberry plant into each opening. Push it far back in. Water from the top every few days with a gentle watering can. You can rotate the bag around every few days as well to share the sun with all the strawberry plants.

I had 16" carrots this year and I started late. I'm still pulling them out every day. I wash them off and eat them walking through the yard. The strawberries are still bearing even in November. They actually grew out of the bag and down to the ground. I had to stop rotating the bag once that happened so consider that.

Next year, I'm doing 12-14 bags. Gonna try potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, and tobacco in bags. I'll use 2cf bags for the tomaters and tobacco I think.

Testing Testing 1 2 3

Dusting off the bandwidth and reopening this blog as a purley money making site with irrelevant content and lackluster refreshing. This is the blind structure.

On my drive to the game, a friend called me and told me to play tight. I didn't listen.

You know how I love to play the first hand of the night don't you ? I don't even remember any of the hands in the first 50 minutes but they were not great. I lost them all. I'm down to 260 chips already and the blinds are still a measley 10 - 20. It's 8:26pm, only 4 minutes from the end of the rebuy period and I get dealt Daniels favorite hand (10 7) in middle position. Jimbo and Bosey are in the hand with me in an unraised pot.

FLOP !!!! 7s 8c 9s giving me bottom pair with and open ended straight.
Jimbo sheepishly bets $60. The flop is perfect for me and I put it all in the middle. Besides, the rebuy period is over in 3 minutes and I'm not sitting around waiting to drive my dad, who will still be playing, home in 5 hours. I beg Bosey to call me so I can triple up and not have to rebuy. He says he likes me so he is gonna do me the favor. (I would return that favor laster in the night BIGTIME)

TURN !!!! 9c Great card for me since I now have an open ended straight flush draw.
Jimbo and Bosey both check.

RIVER !!!! Qc I lock up the flush and miss my straight flush by one card. Thanks Daniel !
Bosey shows ACH (he had a stashed) and jumbo shows some horrible hand I don't remember.
I triple up and I'm back in the game with almost $1000 in chips. But not for long.

The very next hand (THE 8 5 offsuit)

Wesley Ross, who is out of this hand on my immediate right, grabs my cards from the table and lifts the edges up to take a look. As he lifts them, I am just a little excited to see that I've got a pair of eights. I make a move towards my chips and toss in the $20 to call the BP. Uncle Bill on my left decides to also just flat call from the button. The small blind folds and Bosey goes all in from the Big Blind. Everyone folds around to me and I am in a tought spot. I just got back in the game again after all my bad plays and I should be happy enough to fold and wait it out, but I like my pair against what I figure is just two overcards at best so I call. And then Uncle Bill decides to call as well. Damn you Bill !

FLOP !!!! J 6 6. A good flop for me but I check, hoping to induce Bill to bet so can come over the top of him. And boy does he ever bet. " ALL IN " spouts the fisherman. I called immediately as watched Bill turn over his own pair of eights. WOW ! I chuckle and slam my cards down beside his and say "I've got the same thing !!" It is at this moment that the horror overtakes me as I realize that I really have 8 5 offsuit, not the pair of eights. I'm drawing dead to running fives which, of course, do not materialize. I'm out of the tourney.

Thanks Wesley. Now get off my cards please.
______________________________
REBUY !!! My first one ever.
______________________________

With a fresh new stack of chips I decide to play it a little closer to the vest for awhile. A good 45 minutes of folding and lots of really small pots later, I'm in the cutoff position and I pull one of my favorite tricks. I pretend to look down at my cards from behind my glasses and I watch the other players watching me instead. The blind structure are now 20-40. Bill calls from the Small Blind and Bosey checks the BB.

FLOP !!!! J 10 10 Bill checks. Bosey checks. I bet out $100.
Bill calls. Bosey folds.

TURN !!!! 7s

Bill says, "Fuck it, I'm all in"! Now it's time to look at my cards........AJ. Not bad at all. But Bill is a good player and he has a tendency to push with his good hands in hope of winning a big pot. I'm really torn. My gut tells me to call. Then discussion starts about the SB, and how Bill could possibly having anything like 10 3 in an unraised pot such as this. Damn it Bill. You seemed to be my Nemesis already at this point. So I folded it face up on the table for all to see. A massive laydown. Then Bill flips over QJ to put me on tilt. Great.
____________________________________

9:30pm Major Suckout by Jimbo. With four cards on the board 10 J 5 7 and only small betting leading up to it, Jimbo unexpectedly announces "All In" with a motion of his hand. "No Show" Brian is the only other person in the hand but he seems just as thrown off by my dad's bet as the rest of us. Everyone is even more surprised when he calls.
He calls with "The Brunson". He has the middle pair of tens with a 2 kicker to go with it. When Jimbo drops the AQd on the felt and he knows he's in trouble with nothing but ace high and one card to come.
5-1 against. What else is the river but a miracle lady. He hit his 6 outer and the sucking sound is heard for miles.
____________________________________

9:37pm I bluff off all my chips to Bill. He has my ass in a sling tonight and there's no escape. I had Motown (J5) and the flop had paired my 5. I checked it and Bill did too. The turn was a brick and we both checked again. The River is a Q and Bill bets $100. I move all in for $700 more and he calls with AQ.I had let him his for free. Lesson re-re-learned. C-Ya !

So I quit paying attention to the game for a long while and commence to cracking a beer.

9:59pm Bring on the losers game !!! I love the losers game. I'd love to play it first and then play the big game. I got an early chip lead with some aggressive play and I knocked out Sammy, Ronnie, and Jimbo. I was a one man wrecking crew. It got down to me and TJ for all the marbles and I have a 4-1 chiplead. Here's the final hand.......
I'm holding 6 3 offsuit on the button and I limp in the pot. TJ checks.

FLOP !!!! K 3 10 giving me a pair of threes. TJ checks and I do too.

TURN !!!! it's a 6. Now I have two pair. I pause and fiddle my chips. Then I ask TJ what the minimum raise is. He says its $40 and that's what I bet. Then he decides to raise me just another $40. I move all in and pray for a call. He calls quick and shows AK. The river is a brick and I pocket the dough. This puts me up $20 after dropping $40 on the main game.
_______________________________________

Back to the main game. 12:58am Saturday I repay Bosey's favor from earlier when hea called me upon request. He's heads up with FNG Tony and they have been at it for an hour. I wasn't watching the hand at the beginning but I heard Tony move all in and Bosey call so I sped over to see the conclusion I thought. Tony only had pair of Tens and Bosey had KQ for an open ended straight draw. Well, Bosey doesn't catch his straight or even a pair and he stands up to shake Tony's hand. I look closely at the board and I see a ton of red cards so I look a little closer. Well Well. Bosey had caught a runner runner flush and nobody had seen it. I pulled the muck apart and reconstructed the hands. Everyone was stunned and Bosey was delighted. Tony was visibly upset but announced that he didn't want to win "that way". they would play for another 45 minutes after that.

Final Hand 1:26am Saturday morning. A flop of Rag Rag Rag. With just ace high, Bosey moves in and Tony Calls with KJ. The river brings a Jack and Tony wins anyway.

Congrats Tony. See you all on Saturday.

Chips and Chair ( Jimbo Cleans up again )

Our Home Game Page is Here We play a No-Limit Texas Holdem tournament every Friday night. 10 - 18 people on average. $20 buy in.

We had a big turnout tonight, the biggest in a few months. 17 players tested fury of the poker Gods. We had three new players thrown into the mix. Carl (my dads buddy), Mike (who works for me) and "No Show" Brian (we recently met at our Pool). I drew my favorite table again and I'm feeling good so let's get the cards in the air.

The action started off slowly for some reason. Nobody played a monster pot for the first hour it seemed. The only thing I remember was knocking Carl out with TPTK and watching him rebuy. I did take some notes when BJ was all in however. In middle position BJ pushed in his last 340 remarking "I must be out of practice I guess". Well, that's what happens when you miss out on a month of games. I reraised him to shut everyone else out and my pocket Jacks send BJ to the rail.

The next hand I make a 4xBB raise from the button with a suited 9 10. Toby calls out of the small blind and Brian folds his Big Blind. On the short stack again, Carl pushes all in for his last 400 or so. To his left, Bosey , who had limped, makes a raise of $100 to create a sidepot. I have no idea why. I call the $100 and so does Toby.

FLOP !!! 9 Q 5 giving me a pair of nines. Toby checks, Bosey Checks. I bet $200 into the side pot, Toby folds and Bosey calls.

TURN !!! 6 I bet $200 more and Bosey calls again.

RIVER !!! 8 Bosey checks to me and with only a pair of nines I decide to check as well.

Carl shows A7 suited and Bosey has AJ off. I take down a monster pot of over $1500 with nines.

Well, it's 10:03 PM and the big stack at the table is "No Show" Brian who has yet to show his cards even once. Everyone folds when he makes a big bet and he has been raking it in for 2 hours.
It's at this time the "No Show" nickname was applied. The next hand he makes a raise and gets a few callers. Everyone folds out when he bets at the flop. The whole table chastises him into showing his mucked cards and he digs them out to show us AK suited. Nice.

Chip Count !!!
10:17pm
Me - 3100
TJ - 1000
Jimbo- 1990
Brian- 2200
various short stacks.
_________________________________
10:35
Final Table looks like this.......
ME
<----- to my left
Wesley
Brian
Jimbo
Jack
Bill
TJ
FNG Tony

blinds 100-200
________________________________________
The payouts are set at $200 $100 and $40. We had one rebuy.

Somehow, my dad (Jimbo) has managed to stick around after having dropped down to $190 in chips on not one, but two occasions leading up til now. He got into a 4 way pot and quadrupled up to become a force at the table. Uh Oh. Chips and a Chair I guess.

I was just about as card dead as you can hope for at the final table. I never had a pair for the first half hour of play and when I saw a suited KQ it looked like Aces. I had been knocked down to 2000 chips by one suckout and a lost coinflip. On my right,TJ a.k.a Food Lion makes a small raise for $200 and I reraise $600 more. TJ ponders briefly before pushing all in. TJ shows me a A4 offsuit. I flop my Queen then TJ turns an Ace to double through me.

One rotation later the blinds are hitting me and I only have $490 left. I wait as long as I can and then find AK suited in the Big Blind. I am tickled to get my chips in the pot with such a hand and even more ticlked when TJ calls from the button with 10 7 of spades. My excitement is soon squashed by a 10 on the turn and I'm gonzo. I have a few chioce words for TJ as I stand up and head to the fridge for a cold one.
___________________________________________
HAnd of the Week

From the Small Blind, in an uncontested pot, Brian raises $400 into Jimbos Big Blind with a pair ofpocket rockets. Not knowing this of course, Jimbo likes his hand enough to call the modest bet while exclaming "I'll call it, but a 10 never hits when I need it".

FLOP !!! 10 8 5

Brian make a pot sized bet after some careful consideration of Jimbos comment about the ten. At this point I am personally putting the old man on a set of tens and I'm pretty sure that "No Show" Brian has a big hand as well.

Peering back at his cards, Jimbo announces that he is in fact all in for about $3000 more . Brian goes into the tank for nearly two minutes and somewhat sheepishly calls while simultaniously slamming down his aces. Jimbo takes his time turning over a 10 8 offsuit for two pair. Brian does not improve and he is eliminated finally showing down a hand. Too bad. That sucks. Nice job old man.
00000000000000000000000000000000000000

Moving right along. Blind are $200 - $400 still. It's heads up with Jimbo and Food Lion. I decide to sit down with my beer and deal for them. It takes only about 6-7 hands before TJ raises $1000 with J 10 suited and Jimbo comes over the top with A 8 for all his chips. TJ calls kinda quick and they turn them over.

Jimbo make Trip 8s and TJ comes away with nothing but a busted straight and 2nd place money. That's it. Jimbo wins again. Congrats.

I taught him too much I think.

DISCLAIMER !!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE READ !!!!!!!!!!
editors note - Jimbo never took a single chip off of me once the whole night.

WMWMWMWMWMWMWMWMWMWMWMWMWMWMWMWMWMW

It's 1am and 7 of us pitch in $10 and decide to play our first TURBO tourney. Each man got $1000 in chips and the blinds would be set at an astonishing $100 and $200. At this rate you could barely make three rounds before getting blinded off. Action is sure to come.

The draw for the dealer puts me UTG the first hand and Jimmy is nice enough to deal me AQ of hearts. I say fuk it and go all in thinking this will be the best hand I'll see in the whole tourney most likely. JImbo folds. Bill goes all in too with A6s. Jimmy folds on the button with (a7o no less) Ronnie calls fromt he SB with KQo. Then Michael the BB goes all in and shows his own suited AQc.

Jimmy does a "5 card turbo all at once flop" since everyone is all in. Jimy slams down the stack of cards and slowly separates them. Ronnie yelps when he spots his King !!! "Whoo Hoo" !

Oops ! My eyes however are focused on the 3 hearts emerging slowly from the pile. Heart Flush for your hero! I have the mortal nuts. Amazing. Poor Michael with his own AQ suited is dejected but composed. Ronnie sits stunned, still refusing to admit there are three hearts on the board.

The action heats up fast and we are down to heads up. Myself and Jimbo are about to butt heads once again. Jimbo is dealing and limps. I push in with a suited A8 and he calls with K 9. The ace high wins the hand and I go from down $20 on the night to up $40. That's better.

PS> sorry this took forever to get up this week. It's 101 degrees here and my office is in the front of the house and it stays kinda warm. I hope you buy that excuse.

Look for a Bad Beat and a Big Hand to be posted tomorrow.

Check out the Rules of Poker and make your home game civilized.

SHAMELESS PIMPING

Card Club on Lord Admiral Radio, the #1 Poker Podcast

Guinness and Poker,A Party Poker Blog

Five Hundy by Midnight,a Las Vegas Podcast

Tao of Poker, everything poker

Dead Money = Al Can't Hang

So Jason Headley calls me up .....

"What's goin on ?"

Or something like that I think. Jason had been online viewing some pics on my homepage and stopped to give me a ring (a truly novel idea these days) and we caught up on old times. Jason moved from the secluded backwoods of WV all the way to the land of earthquakes and Rice-A-Roni. Quite an adjustment. Diehard Packer fan turned turned musician turned author, he's gotten the farthest from our hometown than anyone I know. So I'm inclined to hear what he has to say and you should be too. Second again. I love spoiling the surprise when I don't win. Get your own damn Blog I say : )

We played on Thursday since Ronnie would be out of town on Friday and most of us can't function if we miss poker night. Well, let's just say the hardcore users were there. 9 of us. Top prize only being paid tonight. $180. (If nobody buys back in that is)

I'm lucky enough to draw a number to get me sat at my favorite of the two tables.

Blinds $10 and $20 qith a starting stack of $1000 each.
The first hand of the night brings fireworks as usual. I'm fortunate enough to have Johnny "Buzz" draw high card and put me one off the button and soon I am gazing down at a pair of treys. Not a bad way to start off. Everyone limps in and when it comes to me I do the same, praying for a trey and an ace on the flop to bust someone with. My enthusiasm is quickly entinguished when Johnny makes it 200 to go from the button. No doubt Johnny has absorbed some of the knowlegde from TJ's book which I have so graciously let him borrow becasue his old play would have been to limp in as well and get a bad beat handed to him. Tonight he was playing agressive and nobody knew what to think. "Action" Tommy lived up to his name and made the lone call. I don't remember much more of the hand except that Johnny got half Tommys chips on the first hand when he flipped over two black aces he had dealt top himself. Way to go Johnny. Tommy would rebuy 30 minutes later and fatten the prize pool to $200.

8:45pm About an 1 1/2 hours into the game I get into a pot with Toby and he slowplays a pair of aces on my as I had hit a pair of Kings on the flop. $600 pot to Toby. It wasn't too long before a series of bad calls and unfortunate turns that I had dwindled down to $350 in chips. Time to make a move with the blinds approaching $40 and $80. I came up against Toby again about 20 minutes later and I reraised him and his now giant stack ( he had built a retaining wall of $200 red chip stacks to guard his Easter Island of dotted $200 stacks of blue ) with my favorit hand of late, J10 suited. The flop hit me just right with a ravishing J 8 2 rainbow with one diamond. I pushed all in and Toby was the only caller in a pot now containing nearly $1000. Toby had called with K9 for second pair. The turn and river were blanks and I had quadrupled up.

I don't remember how Jimmy had busted out, but when I turned around once time I just saw he had flown the coop. I always like seeing Lucky Ass Jimmy out of the game.

I coasted into the final table and I liked my position. The final table looked like this.

Me
to the left.....
Johnny "Buzz"
Jimbo
Bosey
Sammy
Toby
Ronnie
Tommy

The first hand of the Final table always seems to hold tons of self-inflicted drama and tonight was no exception. Blinds are now at $40 and $80. I am in the BB thanks to Ronnie drawing a Queen to grab the button and I squeeze out QJ offsuit. Johnny had limped in UTG and so had 5 others right in line. I saw an excellent chance to steal a ton of chips so I pushed all in for $1200. Johnny immediately called and went all in over the top of me and shut the rest of the players out. When he dropped down AJd I was mortified. I was dominated, unsuited better than a 3-1 underdog. Not to mention that Johnny had me covered by a mile. I cursed and spouted off the odds to Johnny whop seemed quite pleased with himself. When the flop brought me a Divine Lady I quicky sprang into the lead and held on to double up. Yummy.

The second hand of the final table was another dandy. I held Q9 offsuit in the Small Blind and I limp in with about 4 others. The BB is Jimbo, who checks (holding K4h).

FLOPPY K 9 6 rainbow. Everyone checks around.

TURN Qd putting two diamonds on the boar, and me two pair.

I am first to act and I bet out $200 into a pot of over $600. Jimbo raises $300 and I flat call after a brief and staged moment of thought.

RIVER 3d and I love my hand, even with a flush draw on the board.

Since I am trapping at this point, I check it and leave the betting to dear old dad who promptly peels off $400 and stamps it down muttering "raise". Playing it safe I decide to just call instead of reraising. I ask "What ya got" and Jimbo sheepishly announces "Kings". He says "You ?" ........."Two pair", I say confidently.

"Nice Hand". "Thanks Dad".

Yada Yada Yada. I knock out a few guys and it's down to Myself, Ronnie and Jimbo.

I take out Jimbo on a hand I don't recall and creep into the chip lead. Ronnie and I play back at each other for 30 minutes or so, exchanging the lead three times before he took me out by catching trips on the turn and river after I had flopped top pair and bet out. Ronnie had called me with two overs and he caught one of them on the turn. My tourney was over when I foolishly pushed all in with my pair of sevens on that turn and Ronnie had his first win in months secured. Congrats to Ronnie. I guess it's good business to have the house win one every so often.

Video Snipet.................

Any Idea who it on ? I've got a pretty good idea. ( expilcit )

This weeks we are back to Friday night. I hope the River is Kind. - Cincy Sean

If your gonna lose, then lose with Aces I guess.

Our Friday Night Game

Congrats to my old man on beating my ass heads up yet again. He's probably the last one I want to go down to the wire against but hell, at least the Goots boys took home all the dough in the end. More on that later.

We began with 14 people tonight at two tables. I drew the last slip of paper with #5 on it and that got me a seat at the octagon table that would become the final table (you already know how I feel about the other table) so things were off to a good start. Everyone had thier 1000 in starting chips and we started to shuffle up. Blinds start at $10 and $20 and go up each hour.

The first hand each week I always seem to be involved heavily and this was no exception. I get dealt A 10s UTG and I throw in a nice raise of $100 and I get two callers. In comes the new guy Wesley Ross, who calls and chases everything and Bosey who just likes to see the flop. I flopped a pair of tens and bet big. Wesley calls and Bosey drops out. I can't remember the turn and river but I kept betting and Wesley called each bet until he made two pair and I was the short stack after the 1st hand. Not unusual.

Everyone was playing kinda tight and we had no eliminations for the first 50 minutes or so. Until this hand. I'm in the BB with 78 offsuit and Eddie Rebuys is UTG on my left. Eddie stepped across the room to grab bite and I shouted out to see if he wanted to call the bet blind and he said "put me In", so I did. 6-7 people limped in and we had a family pot.
The Flop came 10 6 4 rainbow. I check and Eddie bets out $80 into a pot of about $140. We get one fold and five callers before it comes back around to me at which point the pot odds were so yummy that I plunked down $80 to try and catch my gutshot straight.

The Turn was a Trey, giving me a double gutshot straight draw and I check again. The pot is $640 and Eddie spikes down a stack of $200 and runs off everyone at the table but me. With 8 outs to the nuts I was peppared to chase it so I called.

The River is a Cosmos fattening 9 and all of a sudden I am holding the mortal nuts. I change gears like Dan Harrington says to and I throw in a curious bet of $100 and take a sip of my beer. I've never tasted Chewbacca's ass but my beer was getting a bit warm. For eddies part he seems defiant as he comes over the top of my show of timidity with a raise of his own for $200. I throw him a piercing glare then glance back at my chips pretending to be "on the morphine drip" as Vince Van Patton says. I count out what chips I have left which amounts to about 700 and I reluctantly ease them forward into the pot and try to look worried. Now remember, Eddie called the original bet without seeing his cards so I have no idea what he has at this point, but who gives a rats ass. I got the nuts. He calls as he mutters the words "I should have pushed this hand harder" and turns over my least favorite hand, Pocket Jacks. So long Sammy, see you in Miami.

After Eddie busted out so soon I brought up something that I had been wanting to for awhile. I suggested that he be allowed to buy back into the game. We brought it up for a vote and nearly everyone agreed to allow rebuys each week from now on until the first raise of the blinds. So Eddie got back in and we decided to use his 2nd $20 to pay out a third place position. In retrospect, I should have asked to raise the 2nd place prize. To make matters worse for Eddie, I ended up busting him out a second time only 30 minutes later.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Chip Count at my table 9:05pm
Me 2340
TJ 1360
Wesley 190
Sam zorro
Bosey 130
Tommy 1440
----------------------------------------------------------------

TJ decided to push all in with his QJo having dropped down to 680 in chips. Wesley likes his KJo enough to speculate for his last 430 and with my big stack and Kc10c on the button I like the price so I call. Wesley's J kicker is enough to take it down when 5 babies fall and we lose "Food Lion"

The Hand of the Week is brought to you in part by Card Club on Lord Admiral Radio. This week the hand was between "Action" Tommy and myself. Tommy was sitting directly to my right with the second biggest stack at the table and he limps in as usual. I turn around and show TJ that I am holding his hand (TJ Cloutier, or J9) and he proceeds to take his former seat at the table to watch the hand.

The Flop comes AAJ giving me two pair. The action is on Tommy who tosses in a bet of $100 at a pot of over $600. I initially put him on an ace of some sort but for some reason I decide to make the call out of spite. Everyone else folds out.
The Turn makes things interesting when another Jack falls to the felt giving me a FH and what I assume gives Tommy the nut FH. Tommy bets $200 and I call in a shot as Phil Gordon says. As the dealer thumps his fist and burns a card, TJ mutters "put another Jack out there", knowing that I hold the J9. I blurt out "please don't do that !" and as if on cue, the Poker Gods descend and deliver the preternaturally miraculous Jack of Diamonds to complete my suckout of a lifetime.

QUAD JACKS knock off Tommys Aces over Jacks FH. I appologized and gave him my last cigar and watch him walk away from the table a broken man.

Here's the odds of me winning the hand after that flop. Just scroll down to and feast your eyes. Take a guess first to see if your close.

FINAL TABLE
Me
<------to the left
Jack
Jimbo
Wesley
Toby
Bosey
Ronnie

How they fell.
Wesley chased one to many hands. Out.
Ronnie never had any cards. Out.
Toby reraised me all in with K9o and I called with A8h. Out.
Jack ran into a hand where I wasn't paying attention. Out.
Bosey was brought down by my dad with two pair. Out.

Heads Up ! Me and my old man for the second time. Blinds of $200 - $400 and it's only 11:15pm.

We were about even in chips and we played a few small pots to start out. Then on the 4th or 5th hand I employed one of my new favorite techniques by calling from the small blind without looking at my hole cards. Jimbo hadn't been watching me as I called blind and I watched him peer down at his cards. I immediately got the feeling that he didn't have a very strong hand and my suspicions were confirmed when he just checked.

The Flop comes down J82 rainbow and Dad checks. Finally I look down at my hole cards and squeeze out the mother of all hands. ACE ACE. So I fire in a pot sized raise to make it look like I'm buying it. Dad calls.
The Turn is the 10c putting two clubs on the board but that doesn't concern me. There are no straights on the boards either. So I plunk down another big raise of $1000. I would explain to him later that calling this $1000 as a 5-1 underdog was a real mistake, but he did.
The River brings us another 8 and he moves all in for his last $4000 or so. I can't turn my cards over fast enough, flinging the bullets across the table in his direction defiantly.
He pauses a moment and shoots a glance towards the board, knowing he was beat. Dads concerned look quickly gave way to a crooked smile as he realized not only had he won with his shitty Q 8, but cracked my aces in doing so. Now I have to ride home with this S.O.B. and hear about it for another half hour.

But hey, that's 4 straight cashes for me at the World Series of Ronnies. Two firsts a second and another first, although at the losers table. Thanks for stopping by.

WSOP 2005 Main Event Has Begun

You won't see the highlights on ESPN for months. Along with the regular cast of characters, my grandmother and her boyfriend both showed up from WV to join our game. I drew my slip of paper from the counter and my "4" put me at the octagon table which become the final table later in the night. I hate playing at the big round table because it is so large that you have to pick up out of your seat to rake a pot or collect the cards from the center. I also hate when I make the final table and have to transport my chips, beer, cigars, bubble gum, my lucky turtle card capper and the vintage Bank of Paden City Deposit bag with all my poker paraphanelia to the other table. I just find that it breaks my momentum somehow in addition to being a pain in the ass.

I have David "Bozie" on my left which sucks because he chases and calls all night and drives me nuts. On my right sits Burl, my granny's boyfriend who is 70+ but a good poker player and very patient. FNG Tony who put me out last week sits across from me but I think I have drawn a very good table.

I played strong and aggressive early and scouped several nice pots on my way to building a sizeable chip lead at my table. From the table behind us came the moans and groans that could only signal one thing. Jimmy was rolling and everyone knows it when Jimmy is on a roll. I put all that aside and focused. I tugged my hat down firm and adjusted my sunglasses. The Miller Lite was going down kinda easily and started to feel all warm and tingly. About 1 1/2 hours into the game I get dealt Jc5c in the BB and I just check. In the pot are myself TJ and FNG Tony. The flop copmes 5 5 7. I check. TJ Checks. FNG Tony makes a bet about 1/2 the pot and I flat call him. TJ folds. The turn is a brick and I check again. Tony bets 1/2 the pot again and I immediately asked "How much you got left?". He counts his chips and calls. He had shown his hand to TJ who remarked "There can't be too many of those left". I splash my J5 into the center and Tony sinks in his chair as he tosses down his measley 45. The river brings no 4 for Tony and the revenge tastes sweet. We shake hands I and remind hin of the hand where he took me out a week ago and he smiles. Tadow ! I'm in great shape as we filter down to one table.

Ronnie was having his best night in a few months at the other table by rivering everyone who dared enter a pot with him. He had a mountain of chips and was starting to get a bit loud. The blinds are now at $40 & $80 as we redraw for the button. Toby pulls a King and thats puts me in the BB for the first hand. So we go about 20 minutes and then I run into a big time pot with Ronnie, who rivers his idiot gutshot straight after making a bad call on the turn to my big bet. That river card cost me almost half my chips and it put Ronnie into the lead by a wide margin.

The Final Table Looks like this
Me ( going to my left ) Jimmy, Jimbo(dad), Bill, TJ, Ronnie, Toby, Burl.

Then comes that hand that puts me back in the tournament. I'm holding Q6 off and I limp in one off the button which is Bozie who also limps. The SB and BB call limp and we have a 4 way pot.The flop comes J63. Sb and BB check and so do I. Bozie throws in a raise of $100 into a pot of $320. The SB and BB fold. I pause, take a drink and then call. As the dealer burns a card I reach for my cigars and announce ala Marcel Luske "Check in the Dark" as I try to act uninterested in the turn card coming off of the deck. I glance out of the corner of my eye and from behind my shades to see that another Jack has hit. Everyone is just sitting there quiet and I don't make a move for 20 seconds. Bozie looks at me and asks what I am going to do. Nobody at this game has ever payed attention to me when I make a check in the dark so I had to remind Bozie that I had already checked. He looks down at his chips and pushes forward $200. So I look down at my chips and I start to count them all. I gather two stacks of $100 with my hands shaking and place them in front of my cards. Then I reach back and make 4 more stacks of $100 and press them together in a group. Bozie is looking a bit worried as I push in the call and announce "raise" in a confident tone whilst gliding the other $400 about 6 inches ahead. The Jack had him spooked but he took a good minute and a half to lay down his hand. I raked in the nice size pot and mucked my hand. Bozie lights a cigarette and leans back in his chair. Several hands later he told me how hard it was to lay down those pocket kings. After he told me that I felt like nobody was going to be able to beat me. I never told a sole what I really had, I just represented the Jacks. My bluffs are always called at this game and when I pulled this one off I knew it was my night.

My dad finally busted when Ronnie raised $100 from the button with J10d and dad went all in with his pocket snowmen, only to have Ronnie river a ten to take him out. Ronnie had not won in several months and his mouth was getting dry. He was so elated with his success that he had me snap this picture with his giant chip pile. Good thing we got a picture while it lasted.

Ole Jimmy has a habit of asking other people how much the bet is all the time saying, "who is it up to?" Well the action up to Jimmy and of course he had no idea. He promptly asked who it was on and Uncle Bill snapped ! "It's on you for Christ's Sake !" he moans. Bill is like the referee at the poker table because he keeps the game moving and settles many disputes because he actually pays attention. Bills patience and scrutiny would pay off later in the night when he ended up winning the losers table along with a bigger payout ($220) than the main game becuase Jimmy bought back into the game 4 times and kept busting out. Congrats Billy !

yada yada yada ( people bust out, people drink beer )

The final three came down to myself, TJ and Ronnie. Even though he had a massive chip lead, Ronnie was playing very conservatively and TJ just wanted to get in the top two so he would at least make something. 2nd pays $40 tonight while first will get $200. I saw this as the best time to start stealing again. The blinds went to $100 and $200 and I began to raise on the button everytime. I took several small pots and got into 2nd chip position over TJ. TJ had a little under $2000 and I had maybe $3500 when I get dealt J10S in the BB. I look back at my cards again and decide to rasie $400 into the pot of $600. TJ moves all in and I call. He turns over a really bad hand for me..........JJ. I'm dominated. But the flop comes a ravishing SPADE SPADE SPADE and I take TJ out. : ) I love J10 suited.

Ronnie and I play back at each other for 20 minutes or so as the losers table heats up with action behind me. 11:16pm Jimmy is on his 3rd rebuy by now and somehow I look down to find that I'm in the chip lead. At one point I had dipped below the original buy in with 4 people left but I had persevered and put myself in position to win. I thought had a good read on Ronnie by now and when he made a small raise into me when I held "the speed limit" I felt it was time to push back a bit. I went all in and Ronnie felt he had to call at this point. He sheepishly flips over his own 55 and I let out a chuckle and show mine. Nobody makes a flush and the pot gets chopped.

I really had success tonight by playing the man and not the cards. Ronnie wasn't even looking at me by now and I wasn't looking at my hole cards. There must have been 7 or 8 hands where I bet without looking at my cards. I was raising when he looked weak and betting when the flop looked like it didn't hit him. I was taking alot of chips through pure aggression and a keen sense for when to fold.

It's now 12:40 am and we hae been playing steadly with no breaks since 7:20pm. I've got $7100 and Ronnie has $6900. Ronnie limps in weakly again and I peer down at KQ offsuit and prepare a $2000 raise. Ronnie ponders the raise and then decides he has had enough and goes all in. I call in a shot showing my KcQs and Ronnie drops his Ah6c which has me a small dog but with a great chance to win the whole tourney. The flop comes 345 all of spades. This flop gives me 9 spades in the deck that can give me a winning flush with my Qs but I am still behind Ronnies Ace at this point. Then the turn brings a lovely lady, the Qh. I'm now a big favorite with only one card to come. Wouldn't you know it ? River Rat Ronnie pulls an Ace on the river to give him a pair of Aces that whip my Queens. Ronnie bolts out of his chair and yells as I slump back into my chair in disgust. It takes 2-3 seconds before I see that it's the Ace of Spades and I have made a winning flush to knock Ronnie out ! Ronnie sits in stunned silence as he looks down at the board and sees the awful truth. I guess spades were good to me all night.

Chase has won again ! This is my third win in a month if you include my losers table win from last week. Even worse for Ronnie is that he bought into the losers table for $20 in hopes of being able to join the game when our heads up session was over, but it took over an hour and by then TJ had lost all Ronnie's dough for him.

As a side note, I got home around 2am and decided I was too wired to fall asleep so I sit down in a .10 .25 Pot Limit Omaha High game on UB where I have no bonus left to clear : ( and I was down to only $11 after losing $50 in three hands with FH over FH in a .50 $1 NL Holdem game that my pal WBrumfiel told me I had no business in.

So I sat down with $7 of it and decided to play conservatively. I made some monster hands and took alot of dough from that table really fast. I was up to $50 in the first hour after a triple up and a double up. And by the time I hit the hay at 5am, the birds were chirping and I had turned $7 into $131. I slept like a baby, up $325 on the night.

Next week I'll be back in WV for my highschool alumni so no poker.

Hand Of The Week ??

Pick one of these two hands and leave a comment telling me which was better.

Hand 1)
TJ Flops trip Kings (the flop called "The Noose") KKK. TJ checks and Toby bets out with his measley Q2 and position. TJ smoothe calls him. The turn is a queen and Toby bets out again. TJ raises him just a little and Toby Calls. The river is yet another King giving TJ ("The Big Unit" KKKK ) and TJ thinks a minute before pushing all in. Toby now sits on a FH and thinks it might be good. Finally Toby lays it down and shows his FH. Being the good guy he is, TJ flashes the King and Toby felt he had escaped. Well, he had, but it didn't last long.

Hand 2)
Chase robs Bozie with Q6 offsuit.

Thanks for stopping by, have a drink on me.

When you have a big hand, you hope others do too.

That's been my problem lately. I'll take it in most instances. When It comes to poker, I'll take those odds any day. The Magic Moe's shirt is the shizzle my nizzle. Perhaps the players are distracted by the swirling array of color or maybe a few suffer 60's flashbacks in the midst of tie dye anything. Who knows.

Let's begin by saying that I didn't win the main event, just the measly 5 man losers table. Awinzawin I always say. We started with only 11 players on this Friday evening so we were paying out only 1st place. I was at table one with Nice Guy Eddie on my left and Bosey on my right. Rounding up Table 2 were the likes of Action Tommy, Food Lion , and "All In" who told everyone that he joined up with Uncle Sam to take on the Axis of Evil. That's right, Tim "All In" is gonna be Tim "G.I. Joe" soon enough. He joined the Army. Good luck Timmy and don't forget to duck.

Having said that. FU Tim. LOL.

Tim chose tonight as the night to "ChaseNCatch" on ChaseNFold it seems. He called every raise I made and contested almost every pot I entered. $100 raise........Call. $150 raise.......Call. I flopped two pair twice only to have him call each of my big bets and catch not one, but two gutshot straights on the river to eat my stack down to the low man in no time. And everyone cheered when Jimmy the Man busted out in 10th place and promptly exited the building which elicited and equal number of cheers and relieved sighs. Jimmy is always dangerous and nobody wants to see him with a big stack because he turns into a bully in a flash. I think maybe Jimmy went outside to look for his shoes but I can't be certain.

I kicked and scratched my way back to the original buy in once by getting aggressive preflop with the myriad of Ace rag hand I kept getting dealt all night. I never once had so much as A 10 all night. My best hole cards were 99 all night. TJ "Food Lion" got down close to the felt and pushed with A8 only to have our resident suckout expert Tim call him with A7. Tim made a FH with the seven to complete yet another come from behind to send TJ to the rail.

We lost enough players to merge into a final table just as the blinds had been raised and I had the beautiful shiny button in front of me. Rats. We move our chips and draw cards to place the button and I pull a black Queen. Some guy I had never seen before tonight ended up with the button a few seats to my left. TJ told me that his name was Tony and that he had played in the game long before I ever did but that he had been too busy to show up for the last few months since I had joined the game. The first hand is dealt and I peer between my knuckles at 77. And after the night I've had it looks like AA to me so I push. I have about 800 in chips and the big stacks have 4000 or so. I get called by the Tony on the button and he flips over the Hilton Sisters . I don't improve and the night is over. Short and sweet. See more Interesting " nicknames for hands here.

Heads up it came down to Tony and Toby.

FNG Tony went on to win the main table and we only paid out first place so the first loser this week was Toby. First last week and 2nd this week. Toby is on a tear rivaled only by Dan Harrington's back to back WSOP final table appearances.

I waited around for a few more players to get bumped out so we could start a losers game. Finally there were 5 of us so we each threw in $20 more and sat down. Low and behold, what am I dealt on the first hand but the Hilton Sisters. How divine. The flop come Jack high and I slowplay the sisters and end up taking half of Ronnies stack. Good start.

On the second hand we had an interesting turn of events when the board read 677 Q A and everyone played their kickers. The four people in the hand including myself all had a King high and we had a 4 way chop pot. Very odd. I had a nice run of cards for awhile and I bluffed alot of pots with big drawing hands. I got to be the big stack really quick and I was feeling great. I got lucky againt Ronnie when he was short stacked and he went all in with 78c and I called with 37 off suit and ended up chopping another pot. I had a good Chuckle at Ronnie's expense. It came down to me and TJ again. We once played heads up for nearly two hours before I bluffed off my money to him. I was determined to take him out on this occasion and I did exactly that. I can't even remember any of the hands we played heads up but I was in the zone and I was calling his bluffs and making moves. It didn't take too long. It felt nice. So I ended up +$60 on the night. Not too shabby.
We got a shot of us after the final hand was over. I tripped my pocket 3s and sent him packing in the end. It really wasn't very exciting but the end result is the same. My second win and the respect of millions. What more could a guy ask for ?

I found out that some of the guys at the game had finally taken the time to check out my blog and web page with all the pics on it. Everyone seemed to like it and had nice things to say. Jimmy took offense to me calling him Lucky @$$ so I pulled that down. Sorry Jimmy, but you're still the luckiest guy I know besides Dudley Snider. Nevermind, just trust me. Toby said I missed my calling after he looked at my Blog and that was a compliment I guess, since I won't be making a living at poker in this life.

A few Show notes.

For those who care to know, I missed last week and I came to find last night that indeed Toby brought home the bacon for the 5th time. I'm not playing in small spurts anymore just for fun. I've been waiting on hands and playing them a bit less aggressively. Congrats to Cousin BJ on his Main Event Win!

Sorry this took so long. Both of you who read this should expect more timely updates for sure. I've been in a peculiar mood as of late and procrastination will be my favorite word tomorrow. Perhaps the next day. But here it goes.

BJ won it all ! The $50 NL Holdem Main Event Tourney is over ! $400 into the bankroll of my favorite cousin. BJ played tight all night, getting down low and coming back with big hands time after time. He held out to beat Jason in a back and forth heads up match that saw some big chip swings on some mediocre hands.

I got busted out with K 10s when some guy who had never been to the game before decides to call my post flop bet when I hit my King with his inside nut straight draw after seeing the next card come off the deck. We both saw it I'm sure. I saw it was a 10 and it gave me two pair. He saw it and then decided to raise after saying call. It was a sticky situation and if I knew the guy at all It might have ben an ugly scene. Oh well, I saw the 10 and was happy to see it, I guess that's what I get.

I did come home late and manage to run my recent $25 deposit on Ultimate Bet into nearly $70. Not anything major but it might spell a turnaround for the online game that had deteriorated to the point of flounder.

I promise a better post when the next game comes around. This week I am off to visit family and won't be playing. I never gathered up many chips all nite and there weren't any bad beats or monster pots that came my way. A graceful exit with AJ shortstacked that came up against AQ for TJ and I was off to the losers lounge to punch Phil Gordon and take his lunch money.

Who had the chips ? Well, Johnny Calls managed to drag home a fair ammount of chips with his "call everything" and fold if you don't hit strategy.

Johnny and TJ were locked in an ongoing battle that eventually saw TJ exit stage left in his 3rd straight week in 3rd place.

The hand of the night saw Toby down to his last 30 chips with KQ and Cousin BJ decided to go all in with his measley pocket Aces. Like I said, Toby had BJ covered by 3 white chips and when the flop came out with the beautiful Ace of Spades BJ lept into the air and Toby sank into his chair. The dealer dropped the deck and was prepared to start shuffling for the next hand when I remarked that Toby had a straight draw since a 10 was on board and he only needed a Jack to win. So Johnny grabs up the deck, burns a card and turns over a Deuce of Diamonds. At this point BJ is glaring at me wishing I had kept my mouth shut. He seems to know what is coming as he stares at me while I watch the river card fall. JACK !!! The 4 outer hits and BJ leaves stunned.

Toby then proceeds to go on to win the whole tournament and $200. Not since Jack Treetop Strauss has the poker world seen such a turnaround of fortunes.

Thankfully, we had enough people to start a round of Turbo $5 SNGs at the second. Jimbo took down one of them and so did BJ. The last $5 SNG had 8 people in it for a prize of $40. I played like the grinder you all know me to be and I took that one down. I came with two $20's in my pocket and I left with two different ones. Even Steven.

Next Week is the $50 buy in Championship event. Stay Tuned.

Idea for the day if your playing some cards

Is your stack on the skids ?

Feel like the river is your worst enemy ?

Are you somehow having a bad week, month or worse at the tables ?

I have some advice .

Play like a bonus whore

for the next 1000 hands.

PokerDiagram.com and the BBQ collide !!!

It was brief, but memorable but I finally got together with the fine fellows Zog and Henry over at PokerDiagram.com to play in one of their live Podcast tournaments. Here is the results.

The first hand I folded to Zoggys lame "set the tone as table leader" raise of $125 in middle position with A8d. I was then rewared on the second hand with the lovely AA and I figured it was time to make some dough. I fire in a nice 4xBB raise and the Small (Davidje) and BB (willy zz) call. Flop is xxx with two spades. Small blind bets $125 and BB calls. I raise to $500 and the small blind folds. The BB calls.

Turn is a Jack of diamonds. I go all in with my Aces and the BB (willy zz) calls showing Js8s. The river is an 8 and I go down as a 4-1 favorite with all my money in the pot. SUCKED OUT for the world to hear.

Thanks for the invite Zog and Henry. I won't ever play on Pokerroom again I fear. I have had nothing but the worst luck with the site.

The tourney is still rolling. I have lots of time to type from the rail over here. 4 are gone and Zog ( bugatti57c ) is still sitting tight with $2550 in 3rd/4th place. Good luck Zog.

I will listen to the podcast with a bad taste in my mouth but I will certainly listen as usual and I urge you to do the same.

Poker Diagram.com Podcast and Blog

Stare into the Lucky Magic Shirt and fold.....

Well folks. It was predicted by all the top poker writers and it has been the talk of all the Poker Blogs for weeks and it finally happened. I won. That's right. Your friendly neighborhood fishy brought home the bacon Friday night and it was a sweet victory. $200 worth of sweetness to be exact.

We started the night with 15 people which is about average for our game. A few regulars didn't make it. All In didn't have the dough but showed up to hang out and cousin BJ had to work late. The buy-in was the usual $20 for 1000 tourney chips and we had two tables going at the start. Blinds start off at $10-$20 and go up each hour.

The night got off to a rocky start for me as I picked up a pair of fours in early position and limped. A rag rag rag board made me feel ok to bet out against the one remaining player, Uncle Bill, who proceeded to call me down with each bet til the river and then he showed us Ace Ace. This was the first of four times I would run into Rockets this night and survive to tell the tale. So after one hand I am down to just a little over 600 in chips.

Hand number two I catch AKo a hand I have truly learned to hate but I make a raise like I should for $80 and I get 5 nasty callers. The flop has no ace or King and I get out amongst a flurry of betting. I fold for a long while and steal a few pots here and there and before you know it, I am back just above the $1000 original buy-in.

Our table is still full but the other table has lost one of the perennial powerhouses and 5 time winner Jimmy the Man (aka Lucky @$$) and the news of his departure in 15th position delights the whole room. Jimmy took me out with trip nines in the last hand I played two weeks ago as some loyal BBQ fans will remember from my May 8th post. In late position I peer down at a hand that has been good to me lately (9d 10d) and I limp with it. The flop of the night falls. (6,7,8 rainbow) giving me the nuts. It feels good to hold the nuts but you must not squeeze the nuts so I check when my turn comes and the button raises $40 and eveyone calls including me. The Turn is just what I wanted to see, the Ace of Diamonds, which also puts two diamonds on the board giving me a flush draw. This time I bet $80 and get raised by the button and I call. The River is a King of Clubs and I still hold the nuts so I put out a feeler bet of $400 into a pot of about $900. Bosey thinks for a good 30 seconds and calls showing AK. I couldn't beleive he didn't reraise but oh well, I took a big pot and am now among the chip leaders.

I go up and down for the next hour. I call a $200 raise by Sammy who sits directly to my right. I'm not laying down A 10 suited at this table. The flop brings and ace and I am not sure if I like that or not. But I bet $300 at it and Sammy immediately pushes his last $770 into the pot muttering "all in". I quiclky call and he shows Ace Ace. He makes a FH
and doubles up through me. I am left with under the $1000 buy-in again. I vow to fight on.

The blinds move up to $40 and $80 and I've scraped my way back up to around $180 with a series of All In bets that get no callers. Almost everyone limps in our game and only a few people ever seems to raise with any regularity so my All In bets are pulling in over $200 each time before the flop. I decide to sit back awhile and wait on a big hand and one finds me. I hold 44 on the button and I just call the BB. We have 4 players in at this point and the flop brings a ravishing (A 8 4) giving me my first set of the night. Unlucky for TJ's Dad he makes his flush on the river when another 8 falls giving me my only FH of the night. I take over $2000 and now have a formidable stack.

We have now lost anough people that we combine to one table and the action heats up. I make some money with (9,10) when I flop two pair. I gain some real confidence when I lay down (A8) to another $200 raise from Sammy who I bully into showing me yet another Ace Ace. Uncle Bill is the huge chip leader as we color up to Black chips and he has nearly all of them. Bill likes to chase big draws and I used that to my advantage and take all his chips in two hands with cards I can't even remember. Jack sits across from me and has been making several All In bets that I read as bluffs so I call one of them with (99) and he shows (88) and he is gonzo.

We are down to 4.

Bosey, Me, TJ, and Sammy.

Bosey is on the short stack and I put him all in with my suited (J,10h) and he calls with (A7) and he gets his Ace. The very next hand I take him out with a straight I make on the turn and he calls when I put him all in onm the river with his pocket Jacks.

Down to 3 players and only two will be taking home any money. $200 for first and a measley $40 for second. I was under the impressions however that 2nd would be getting $80 but I only found out once I had won what 2nd really paid out. I go to the bathroom and take the picture you see at the top of this post and I tell myself to not do anything dumb until I am in at least 2nd place. I have had a record number of "one out of the money" finshes in the last few months and I am not mentally prepared to handle another one. So I splash my face with water and head back into the smoke filled basement and I fire up a to calm my nerves. I crack a Miller Lite and nestle down.

By now I have well over $12000 in chips and I decide to fold alot and hope the other two will do the work for me. But when I catch (QJc) on the button and TJ raises $400 (as usual) I call. The flop is all bricks so I check and he bets $800. I stare long and hard at him looking for a tell. He smiles. I lay my hand down face up and he shows me pocket kings. A few hands later TJ pushes all in on a board of (22347) and Sammy thinks a few seconds and then calls showing AK. TJ looks stunned and then mucks. TJ, a multiple winner who is by his own admission up over $1000 in this game this year already is gone. It's down to me and Sammy.

Sammy is a quiet player. He raises infrequently and from my little black book, he always has a pair or (AK) when he raises. So my plan is to play conservative, especially since now he has TJs chips in a huge pile in front of him and I fear I may be outchipped. I see (A7) on the first heads up hand an announce "All In". Sammy folds and I take down the blinds which are now at $200 - $400. The very next hand I squeeze out (A4s) and go All In again. Fold. So far so good.

With our stacks both over $10000 we might be here awhile. It is almost midnight and the cards are coming out faster because All In ( Tim ) has been so kind to deal for us.

There are alot of boring hands and folds for about 5-10 hands. I am chatting away with everyone, trying to get Sammy to loosen up a bit and then come the last hand. I don't even remember is I was on the button or not but I remember the rest. I was holding (Kc,7h) and the flop came down (2,2,7). I remarked to TJ that I wish I had "the hammer" and he laughs. Sammy asks what "the Hammer" is and I tell him it's (2,7). He looks at his cards again and looks at the board and says "All In". I call so fast my head spun off and turned over my (K7) and he shrugs and turns over (4s,7s) and hangs hs head. I cringe as the turn and river come slowly as TJ is now dealing and he milks the suspense as if Matt Savage were walking around with a microphone and hadn't given him the nod to flip the last two cards. Finally he peels off (Qc,10d) and I have to look at it for a second before I realize it is actually over. I extend a hand a Sammy shakes it, exclaiming "I never figured you for a Seven in that spot".

We had to count all the chips down to see if I had him covered. It took a few minutes but we found out I covered him by less than $50 in chips out of $15,000.00. Game over.

Next Stop.........Vegas

I forgot to mention, Jimbo took home the cabbage at the 2nd chance table. $80 ain't chump chage. Jimbo is the King of the Bad Beats and he'll be the first to tell ya. Look up BarbiesBoyToy on and try to knock him pout of a $1 SNG. I might even offer a bounty. Jimbo is actually my old man and he once took me out heads up with Ducks against my AK. That's what I get for teaching him how to play I guess.

See the whole Cast ........ My Homegame crowd

A hand on the face makes you a great poker player.

Alfredo 'Toto' Leonidas. The Professor Howard Lederer. John D'Agostino. Joe Cassidy.

What do these players have in common ? They all play cards with one hand and they all have make a decent living playing cards. I suppose the secret to success is resting one hand under your chin in some fashion while playing.

What does this accomplish ? Phil Helmuth takes it one step further by putting both hands to his mouth (many wish he would do this 24/7). Maybe that is why he is the only World Champ out of this group. Is is a way to disguise tells ? One less hand to fumble your chips with and give away your pocket aces ? Puffy jackets to hide your heart pounding, sunglasses to hide your lying eyes, and hats of every sort to pimp your Online Poker backers, hide your bald head and shield your twitching face. Will Caro be out with a new book on Poker Fashion any time soon ? I think he is missing the boat.

I was just watching a replay of the 2004 US Poker Championships on my Replay TV again and never noticed how many players had this same quirky habit. Maybe I'll incorporate it into my Friday nite game this week and take home the dough.

On that note, we have set June 10th as our first Championship Tourney with a buy-in of $50. And Jimmy is the luckiest man I have ever seen at a card table.

Jimmy.

What can I say about Jimmy. He won, first of all. Did I mention he was just lucky ? I guess some people are. Some have to be unlucky too I suppose. I am not saying that I am unlucky because I really am not. I got to the final table again as usual. I even had decent cards this time at the final table which is a rarity. My I had a big stack of chips to play with and so did two other guys. TJs Dad had about as much as I did &while Jimmy had a little less.

Back to Jimmy. Jimmy gets a big hand and he starts to shake and stand up yelling All In !!!!!!!!! But I am finished with Online Poker for a bit. I need a break. I think my wife needs me to take a break too. I am going to use this Blog to talk about poker anyhow. I'll be telling you about my Friday Night homegame instead. I have been playing so much online poker that my heads hurts. My play has went in the shitter and I have been playing for fun and not playing to win. I just don't have the time to dedicate to playing tight since my job is so hectic this time of year. I'll be back. That's for sure. I still have Ultimate Points on Ub to play with ; )

Tonight is my home game. It's 30 miles out into the backwoods of NC. A scary placeif you are not caucasian or even if your name ain't Bubba or Dale for that matter. We play a Texas Holdem Tourney. Sometimes as few as 8 people and sometimes as much as 19 at three tables. I have never won it in the three months I have been going. Lots of seconds and thirds, lots of monster chip stacks given away on bad bluffs. I never seems to get any cards when the final table comes and I am not a very patient man. Tonight is another chance.

With the Buy-in set at a fixed $20 we usually pay out around $200 for first and sometimes $120 or so for 2nd if we have a big crowd. Most times it is just first place getting paid. I think the rules state that I will finish in the first place not paying out : O

Wish me luk. I feel Like James McManus in Positively 5th Street, sitting on the Button with Rockets and watching everyone fold.

UB bankroll $16.27

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://chasenfold.blogspot.com/2005/05/early-morning-penny-omaha-pays-off-big.html' title='Early Morning Penny Omaha Pays off Big !!! You have the nuts, you bet and hope fish chase you and dont catch. I tend to win at Omaha if I play smart at the low levels. I sat with $2 and cranked it up to $11. Got down to $1.83 again and then crawled back to $6.14. I also played a little penny holdem and turned 75 cents into $3.24. Maybe it's pennies from here on out. But I'm going to bed on a winning feel so I should sleep well and thanks my lucky stars I am not broke in one day. UB won't get me today ! I want everyone to checkout my pal's over at Lord Admiral Radio and their weekly Podcast About Poker. http://www.lordadmiral.com/radio . These guys and their show revived my interest in Blogging and sharing my poker experiences withthe masses.

I'll be posting ( hopefully ) about my attempts to get back to my winning ways and bust my current slump of poor play and questionable calls. I deleted my old Blog and am starting up a new one that will hopefully see me turn a $40 stake in Ultimate Bet's online poker site into $500 in 6 weeks or less.

Tune in too follow along and read as I play low limit cash games and fill in the boring folds with a few SNGs to keep the action lively. I'll throw in my own submronic reviews of poker books and software if I find the time and if anyone is intersted.

That's all for now as I work out the details. Come play with me on UB in the low limit Omaha nad NL Holdem rooms.
